Description
Incident and fault tracking systems are a key foundation for operational assessment, reliability analysis, and maintenance optimization in accelerator facilities. During the long-term operation of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS), a systematic machine-time fault recording mechanism was established to document downtimes, failures, and related recovery information, providing valuable support for data analysis and reliability studies. This paper presents the basic structure, data content, and operational role of the CSNS fault recording system, and discusses practical issues related to data consistency, completeness, and long-term coherency. As a case study, the mean time between failures (MTBF) data of the RFQ cavity are used for reliability modeling based on the Weibull statistical model. The results show that the Weibull model describes the failure characteristics and reliability evolution of the RFQ cavity well. This work demonstrates how structured fault records can be effectively used for reliability analysis and long-term performance evaluation in accelerator systems.
