Transportation and Suica
Suica is a rechargeable prepaid IC card that can be used for public transportation and cashless payments throughout Japan. Participants using an iPhone can add a Suica card through Welcome Suica mobile directly to Apple Wallet and use it on trains, subways, and buses in many parts of Japan, including Aomori City buses. Suica is also accepted at convenience stores, vending machines, restaurants, and many retail shops. It is highly recommended for visitors who plan to travel in the Tokyo metropolitan area before or after the conference. For visitors who cannot use Mobile Suica on their smartphone, Welcome Suica is available at major airports and selected railway stations. This prepaid IC card is designed for short-term visitors to Japan and can be used for transportation and shopping in the same way as a regular Suica card. Note that funds must be loaded onto the card before use, and additional credit can be added as needed. Suica can be recharged at railway stations, convenience stores, and other designated locations throughout Japan.
Cash, ATMs and Currency Exchange
The nearest ATM is located at the Seven-Eleven convenience store, approximately a 3-minute walk north of Hotel Aomori. Currency exchange services are not available at Hotel Aomori or local banks. Participants who require cash are encouraged to exchange currency at their departure airport or upon arrival in Japan. Major credit cards are widely accepted throughout Japan, including hotels, restaurants, convenience stores, and most retail stores. However, some smaller shops and local establishments may accept cash only.
