Description
Construction and validation of the Linear IFMIF Prototype Accelerator (LIPAc) is on-going at the QST Rokkasho Institute for Fusion Energy, being conducted as an international collaboration between Japan and the European Union.
Nowadays, a robust IT infrastructure is critical to ensure the maintainability and reliability of any scientific installation. With this goal in mind, we are conducting a thorough upgrade of the LIPAc IT infrastructure with a multi-pronged approach: 1) upgrade of the core network to optical trunks and redundant core switches, 2) replacement independent servers by a single high-availability cluster, 3) centralized management of the operator workstations through network boot, 4) implementation of a centralized monitoring and alerting system for IT equipment to notify of software and hardware failure.
This presentation will share our historical evolution, the current status of our work, the rationale behind our decisions, and our ideas for future improvements.
