Description
Visible LEDs on products are commonly believed to offer a rapid way to spot a issue. However, in the medical device sector they have been found to cause confusion, miss-diagnosis and panic in patients. As a result, in the past few years through a range of standards the information conveyed by LEDs on medical products has become regulated resulting in harmonization across equipment and simplifying the conveying of information to operators. These standards regulate both how colour and lighting patterns are used to transmit information. In this poster these standards are highlighted together with recommendations for good practice on applying them to accelerator systems with the aim of fast correct fault diagnosis and thereby increased availability of systems.
