Description

The Canadian Light Source is a Third Generation Synchrotron Light Source in Saskatoon Canada which delivers Beam to 22 user beamlines. The injector consists of a LINAC and Booster Ring. There has been significant beam losses during injection into the booster ring which the operators would manually adjust steering magnets at the end of the LINAC to Booster (LTB) transfer line. A Bayesian Optimization tool has started development as a way to improve booster injection. The initial tests have shown it to be an effective way to optimize booster capture and this method has the possibility to be used on other parts of the accelerator system.
