Description

This work presents a new system for assessing the operational availability and reliability of the Sirius Synchrotron Light Source, operated by the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS/CNPEM) in Campinas, Brazil. As a national public facility providing synchrotron radiation infrastructure for scientific research, reliable and transparent monitoring of accelerator operation is essential.
The proposed system continuously acquires and analyzes operational parameters from the accelerator control system according to predefined criteria. Since the control system is based on EPICS, most parameters are obtained directly through EPICS Process Variables (PVs), eliminating the need for queries to the EPICS Archiver. An important parameter is the global Gamma Shutter enable status, which indicates whether synchrotron light is available to illuminate beamlines. This information is acquired directly from the hardware interlock system, providing a more reliable source than the corresponding EPICS PV.
The system generates statistical indicators and operational summaries, accessible through a Web interface. The current development also includes automated data acquisition and storage in CSV files, enabling independent auditing and verification. This approach provides a transparent, reproducible, and auditable methodology for evaluating the operational reliability and availability of Sirius.
