Description
After the major fire in the RF Gallery at GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, normal beam operations were no longer possible, and two interim solutions had to be found for the commissioning of FAIR (Facility for Antriproton and Ion Research). PARTIH is one of the planned interim solutions. To this end, the HITRAP (Heavy Ion Trap) decelerator will be reversed and installed as an accelerator in the transfer channel between UNILAC (Universal Linear Accelerator) and SIS (Heavy Ion Synchrotron).
In addition to the technical and logistical challenges, the relocation also poses a special challenge for the facility documentation. A renovation of the building is planned, and once FAIR is commissioned, the interim solution, PARTIH, will be converted back to its original form.
As part of the relocation, existing documentation was reviewed, updated, and adapted to the conditions of the new location. Another key component was the creation and preparation of specific equipment lists for the participating departments. These lists served to provide relevant facility and equipment information specifically for each department and to support further processing.
The poster illustrates the challenges involved in documenting a short-term relocation, as well as the importance of structured equipment lists and coordinated communication as the foundation for successful collaboration among the participating departments.
