Description
At Jefferson Lab’s (JLab) Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF), superconducting RF (SRF) systems directly govern machine availability and energy reach. Sustaining high-reliability operations requires balancing high accelerating gradients against field emission, cryogenic heat load, trip rate, and trip recovery time. JLab has implemented strategic programs to maintain and improve SRF system performance, including cryomodule refurbishments, field emission amelioration, and low-level RF controls upgrades. This talk will focus on how past poor SRF system performance was overcome, and ongoing efforts to ensure long-term, reliable high-gradient operation.
