Description
For many years industry, notably the automative sector, has optomised the production and reliability of its products through Quality Assurance processes. These processes have spread between industries and companies often being tailored to the product, regulatory need or culture of the company. Influenced by these processes in the Accelerator Technology Sector at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN) efforts have been made to standardize the language of lifecycle across the many products which form an accelerator system. Efforts have also been made to define gates which bar the transfer of a project between lifecycle phases until pre-defined requirements are met. These requirements are typically related to activities which characterise the product, allow its limitations to be understood and thereby its interoperability and reliability within the accelerator system.
This presentation summarises some popular industrial QA processes and details a version which is adapted to electronics products at CERN.
